Amadiel

Let me introduce myself: My name is Amadiel. I am from Mexico and moved to Canada in 2008.

Life was very good and new to me. I had a beautiful family with a lot of support as I got to know a new culture and a new way of living. I used to have a good job up north which supported my family, and our lifestyle which including traveling. However, some poor decisions made me got into a horrible addiction. I started to drink. I became unmanageable; conflicts and trouble with family and friends arose as I was unfit.  I had no purpose. I lost everything: my marriage, my truck was repossessed and the opportunity to help my son in his struggles. I felt worthless with no future, until someone asked if I was willing to help others and I said “Yes”!

I started a new job as a shelter worker helping homeless with their day-by-day struggles, but the job pushed me deeper into my addiction because I was not dealing properly with my emotions. instead, I was drinking even more on my days off and sometimes during work week and I was not able to help anymore. A family member suggested I talk to a counsellor, which I did. It was the best thing ever, as I really needed help and I was dying inside. With her help and treatment I have learned tools to help me deal with hard times, but the most and very important aspect of that experience is I learned about GOD, and how HE works in many ways to share those hard experiences with me.

Thankfully I’ve learned from those experiences, good and bad, and I am now on the right path for my life.

Mathew

I was born in matsqui Abbotsford, and moved to the Okanagan when I was about 2 years old. I have lived in or close to it most of my life.

I experienced a difficult childhood and, at about the age of 15, I first met Emrick who gave me a job. Tragedy struck our family when my brother was killed, and I struggled to deal with that. After a couple of years, I joined the carnival! Yes, I did, and spent about 7 years traveling around Canada.

After I left the carnival, I lived on the coast for about 7 years, later moving back to Penticton where I again met Emrick and worked with him as a bailiff at a local company. Now that Emrick is running his own business, I am pleased and proud to be working with him here at Exodus Bailiffs.

In my spare time, I love gaming – I can be extreme at times! I am handy at fixing stuff, and I love the challenge of new things.
